1. Who We Are

CWriting ("we", "us", "our") operates this AI-powered CELPIP writing practice tool. We are based in Canada and this policy is governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

  • Account information: email address used for authentication (magic link via Supabase Auth).
  • Writing submissions: essay text you submit for AI evaluation.
  • Usage data: timestamps, task type, credit balance, and evaluation history associated with your account.
  • Payment information: processed by Stripe. We never store raw card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, and standard server logs retained for security and abuse prevention.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the AI evaluation service.
  • Authenticate your account and process payments.
  • Send transactional emails (magic links, receipts).
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Comply with legal obligations under Canadian law.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your essays to train AI models without explicit consent.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following sub-processors:

  • Supabase - database and authentication (servers located in Canada).
  • Stripe - payment processing (US-based, covered by their own privacy policy).
  • Anthropic / OpenAI / AI providers - essay text is transmitted to AI APIs for evaluation. Their data retention and usage policies apply to data sent to their endpoints.

Stripe and AI API providers are US-based. By using CWriting, you consent to cross-border transfer of your data to these providers as necessary to deliver the service.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and submission history for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@celpipwriting.com. Deletion is processed within 30 days except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights (PIPEDA)

Under PIPEDA you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. Contact us at support@celpipwriting.com to exercise these rights. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use essential session cookies required for authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. No third-party analytics scripts are embedded on this site.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
